Creating Tickets from Messaging Conversations
Creating Tickets from Messaging Conversations
A messaging conversation may need to become a ticket when the customer request requires structured tracking, assignment, or follow-up.
When a ticket is useful
Create or associate a ticket when the request:
- needs work beyond the live conversation
- requires assignment
- has an SLA or deadline
- needs investigation
- requires follow-up by another team
- should remain in the formal service history
Preserve context
The resulting ticket should include enough conversation context for the assigned agent to understand the request.
Avoid duplicates
Before creating another ticket, check whether the conversation is already linked to an existing ticket for the same issue.
Continue communication
Where supported, the messaging conversation can remain the communication channel while the ticket provides operational tracking.
Good practices
Do not create tickets for every casual message. Use tickets when structured service management adds value.
