Article Visibility and Access
Article Visibility and Access
Article visibility determines the audience for Knowledge Base content.
Choosing the correct visibility level is a security and information-governance decision.
Public
Public articles are intended for anonymous readers when the portal and article are eligible for public access.
Do not place confidential or customer-specific information in public content.
Authenticated
Authenticated content requires the reader to meet the configured authentication requirements.
Internal
Internal content is intended for authorized Helpdesk users rather than public customers.
Restricted
Restricted content should be available only according to explicit access rules and supported authorization logic.
Access rules
Additional access controls may apply at the portal, category, article, or other supported scope.
Good practices
Use the least permissive visibility that still satisfies the business requirement.
After changing access settings, test the article from the perspective of the intended audience rather than assuming the configuration behaves as expected.
